Nutrition News: Liquid Curcumin by Truth Origins is Worth Checking Out

As a health and wellness writer for the last 15 years, I’ve always been fascinated with vitamins and mineral supplements and always quizzing the experts for their recommendations.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been vegetarian nearly all my life and vegan since my mid-20s that nutrition has been a special interest of mine. I watch what I eat to try and avoid common vegan-diet deficiencies (D3, B12, EPA/DHA are common ones), and equally aware of supporting my sports and fitness lifestyle, which puts an added strain on my body.

That’s why I was excited to be introduced to Truth Origins water soluble liquid vitamins and invited to be part of the brand’s referral programme. This is the first referral and affiliate programme I’ve joined in the ten years I’ve had this blog so it’s definitely a product that I think is worth checking out.

While I’m not a chemist or expert in absorption of supplements, I’ve often heard experts support liquid supplements over tablet form as they’re thought to be absorbed more effectively by the body (as they don’t have to pass the gut).

For that reason I’ve often gravitated towards liquids and tinctures (A.Vogel echinacea drops, A.Vogel echinacea sore throat spray or Viridian Cherry Night are a few of my staple favourites) so I was keen to try Truth Origins Liquid Curcumin, as well as the other liquid supps in the range: Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Omegas.

There is increasing evidence that curcumin may help support healthy gut function, which is linked to a healthy immune, another reason I was interested by it.

Here’s a bit more info from Truth Origins about the Liquid Curcumin: This curcumin is extracted from turmeric root without synthetics.  Our full-spectrum liquid curcumin extract is completely water-soluble, so it gets into your bloodstream faster and more effectively.

How to take Liquid Curcumin according to Truth Origins: I just followed the instructions: 6 – 12 pumps (3-6ml) into a drink of your choice, stir and enjoy. I’m a bit weird and added it to a glass of almond milk but that’s because I don’t have juice. I also tried it with water and it tasted like weak juice, so that was all good too.

What I liked most about this product was the way you take it and the taste – so many liquid sups have a strong taste that I often struggle with. But this went down pretty well with a citrus-lime kick (it’s actually pineapple and lime).

If like me, you’re not a fan of turmeric flavoured foods (apart from actual curry) then do not fear as it tastes nothing like a turmeric latte. And that’s because curcumin is not the same as turmeric, a misconception commonly made.

Curcumin is a compound of turmeric plant (but only 2% of the plant). Turmeric has been used for centuries in natural remedies and cooking but there are now over 700 peer-reviewed scientific studies on curcumin,’ says founder, Dr. Harrison Weisinger, MBBS, Ph.D.

According to Truth Origins, the challenge in the making was absorption. ‘Curcumin is poorly soluble in its natural state is hard to get into the bloodstream, by making it water soluble we have changed the game. Truth Origins Liquid Curcumin™ is highly concentrated and water soluble for maximum absorption. We don’t use emulsifiers to force the curcumin to dissolve either.

The packaging is eco too as it’s housed in a glass bottle that cuts out visible and UV light to prevent oxidation and is completely plastic-free. I’ve also just found out that you can also add Liquid Curcumin to tea, coffee, smoothie or any food you like, so I’ll be giving that a go soon too.

Full ingredients are: Full Spectrum Turmeric Extract, Frankincense Extract, Fruit Extracts, Spice Extracts, Steviol Glycosides, Trace Mineral Complex, Green Tea Extract.
Free from: gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, sugar, artificial flavours, artificial colours or artificial sweeteners. Cruelty-free
