Review: Vegan Protein Powder Created by A&E Doctor

I have a keen eye for new vegan protein products so when news of Dare Motivational Shake landed in my inbox, I was intrigued. Co-launched by A&E doctor, Dr Ben Hamida and his wife, it’s hands down one of the tastiest [and chocolatiest] vegan protein powder I’ve had – and I’ve tried many!

The ingredients are interesting too. It contains 100% of the daily recommended dosage of all essential micronutrients: vitamins A, Thiamin B1, Riboflavin B2, Niacin B3, Pantothenic Acid B4, Biotin B5, Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), folic acid and vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E.

The protein content is 20g of plant-based protein – mainly from soybean – as well as flaxseed, oats and peanut butter. On top of that there’s a long list of interesting health-supporting ingredients such as turmeric root, alfalfa powder, kale leaf powder and more.

After trying all three flavours and becoming a firm fan of all of them, I’m now super happy to bring you a special discount-affiliate code for £10 off your first order (over £40). Spreading the Dare protein love!

The Pros – Why I Love Dare Motivational Shake

First up, the taste! If you’ve ever had a bad-tasting protein shake (that’s not hard – vegan protein powder has had a terrible reputation in the past), then I’m sure this one will surprise you. If you’re a chocolate-lover, you’ll love it and if you like chocolate-orange then you’re going to love it too.

The flavours: Cocoa & Peanut Butter, Cocoa Vanilla Frosting, Cocoa & Jaffa Orange – they’re all as chocolatey and scrummy as each other. Having this shake for breakfast was a bit like having a delicious chocolate desert. Literally, the best!

The powders mix well in a glass without needing a blender (my litmus test for every protein shake I try) and there’s no gritty or chalky taste or texture afterwards, which can be common with hemp, rice or pea protein.

For breakfast, I have my protein shake mixed into a bowl of cooked or overnight-soaked oats and Dare protein blends in really well with just a spoon.

As a new customer you get some fabulous merchandise too, like a shaker bottle, t-shirt and steel flask, all delivered in bold and beautiful branded packaging (that’s all recyclable).

Unsurprisingly Dare seems to have gathered quite a fan base of NHS and key workers, some featured on the Dare instagram page.

The Cons

The only thing I’d change about the product is the serving as it’s two scoops per serving whereas I’m used to most protein powder products being just one scoop. That’s not a biggie but just something I noticed.

What They Say:

Motivational Shake is nutritionally complete, powdered by plants and contains an all-in-one blend of seeds, superfoods, herbs, phytonutrients, pre- and probiotics and all 26 essential vitamins and minerals. Certified vegan and all our ingredients are non-GMO and completely lactose-free.

My Favourite Way to Use Dare Protein Shake

When I first tried Dare Motivational Shake, it was the middle of winter so I ended up having it as a hot chocolate – and the habit stuck. I just add one scoop (half a serving) to a mug and top it with hot water.

If I don’t feel like having a cup of tea or I want a nutritious chocolate hit, I’ll have this instead. It mixes easily with a spoon and tastes absolutely delicious. I even think it beats a cup of tea!
